Vernal Showers

The vernal showers- so sublime, divine,
Pattering on enticing eglantine,
Resounding refrain, the thunders sing,
The spectral arcs smearing spirit of spring,
Drenched in that shower from welkin’s soul,
Marigolds and tulips dance enthralled.
I hear them drizzle on the grassy green,
Their song like a lullaby my senses reign,
My silent rendezvous with these drops blissful,
Exuding ecstasy within wistful,
That I be intrepid to wonder in awe-
“What be these drops that stir my soul?”
They be showers of blessings from a celestial mind,
To cleanse the peccadilloes of human kind.
Or they be drops from plaintive eyes, lamenting-
“What man has made of man.”

Blooming Roses

Yesterday it was an elfin, petite bud,
Secured in its lovely leaves,
Like a majestic queen entrenched in an emerald throne.
Nurtured by tender breeze and dewy air,
It gently bloomed into a lovely rose-
-The malodorous domicile of the murmuring flies.
Decked in red with drops of dew,
Glittering under the radiance of the golden orb,
Made more elegant with the entwining vines.
Its beauty unmatched, its fragrance unrivaled,
- A matter of reverence and a joy for all.
As time tripped on with rosy wings,
Hours did fly and days did flow,
That loveliness has withered and has fallen away,
Its beauty had gone, its fragrance departed,
Its silky skin lay desiccated on the pebbles,
Shattered and blown in the morning breeze.
Now no tears are shed for it,
No one to give it reverence,
It lay buried in the lowly dust
-Ignored and forgotten.
Momentary are we, as the roses
That come and wilt away into oblivion.
The joy we spread in the span of our life,
Would be all that counts.

Dreams

On wheels drawn by Pegasus of gold,
The silver sphere descended on the sky.
Ere her silver rays could touch the world,
The world was lulled to a drowsy sleep.
A misty solitude did fill the air ,
Morpheus with Lethe at his feet,
Alight on the drowsy souls,
Painting it with fantasies and thoughts.
Colourful delusions would so fill our souls,
This ecstasy reviving the hearts,
Like honey dew on morning rose,
Like fountains that arise amidst sandy wastes,
Instilling new spirit in the lifeless wastes,
Dreams rise in barren hearts.
If dreams be not there then life would be
Like fishes that swim in frozen sea.
For hearts with no dreams are Eagles with no pinions,
Unable to soar, destined to groan.
When the golden rays of the golden globe,
Glitter past the glistening sky,
Morpheus soars into oblivion,
Into some mysterious solitude,
Waking our souls to harsh realities.
But the sweet thoughts of that enchanting ecstasy,
Would so reverberate in our hearts,
That all would long and wish again
To be in Morpheus’s arms again.
