Your Legacy

Some days are good, some days are bad, at least that's the same now that you left,

Everything else about life is different now, normal is so hard to find now but we're all doing our best,

How quickly a smile turns into a thought, and that thought into a tear, and that tear into a sob,

Thinking about what we could have done different doesn't matter, cause forever and ever, you're gone,

Sometimes we laugh, and sometimes smile, and twice since you been gone you weren't even on my mind,

Every damn memory on facebook you were a part of, and if you weren't, you clicked on like,

I don't care anymore, I'm not ashamed, I tell everyone how much I love them, never again will I forget,

Life is so dangerous without you, like walking a tight rope, with no safety net,

On good days, when I'm brave, I like to tell your grandson, stories about you,

He listens closely to every word, and most the time there stories he already knew,

Talking about you with him makes me feel like you're still, just a phone call away,

But pictures and memories are all we have now, I hope you get to listen at night when we pray,

I love you Kim, I love you Kim, I love you Kim, if I say it three times and click my shoes will you come back,

Didn't think so, but until we meet again, I'll tell everyone I love them, because with you, I won't have another chance.

My Older Brother

My older brother is someone, I want to punch in the mouth,
But I can't, because he'd knock me out,

My older brother is a scapegoat, when I've done wrong,
My older brother is motivation, helping me, keep keepin' on,

My older brother is a role model, if he likes it or not,
Showing me how to overcome adversity, against any odds,

I could go for days, giving kudos, and building him up,
But when it comes to giving him praise, there's never enough,

My older brother, can jump, clear over the moon,
He'd show you how, but he has other things to do,

My older brother has forgotten, more than I'll ever learn,
Dedicated to hard work, everything he owns, he earned,

He is my inspiration, he showed me that no mountain, is ever too tall,
He made it to where he is today, by refusing to fall,

I've never said this to him, I assumed he already knew,
For the little things you've unknowingly taught me, many thanks go to you,

No matter how tough, I think I am, he's that much tougher,
I'm 6'6 he's 6'2, yet, I'll always look up to my brother

Because You'Re Beautiful

Because you’re beautiful,
from your 5 head to your webbed toes,

Because you’re beautiful,
when you smile, your whole face glows,

Because you’re beautiful
you’re in my dreams all the time,

Because you’re beautiful,
I’m absolutely mesmerized by your eyes,

Because you’re beautiful,
boredom no longer exists,

Because you’re beautiful,
lip smackers should name a taste, Mary’s Lips,

Because you’re beautiful,
I miss you when we’re apart,

Because you’re beautiful,
I wanna be everywhere that you are

Because you’re beautiful,
big problems seem small,

Because you’re beautiful,
I don’t care if I fall

Because you’re beautiful,
and beauty is so much more than just flesh,

You’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever met

A Better Place

Sometimes it's difficult to love, in a world filled with so much hate,
But it starts from within, how can you say you care, with double padlocks and chains on your gate,

The locks are to keep evil out, at least that's the truth, you tell yourself,
If you start out loving everyone you meet, you wouldn't turn away anyone, who comes seeking help,

You've learned to be on guard, due to the people who took advantage of you, and those who broke your heart,
You're letting others change you, because of them, new relationships are doomed from the start,

Love is a more than a feeling, it's a choice, its a behavior, it's a way of life, it's a skill, that won't progress if not used,
Everyone deserves to be loved, but you won't love anyone, unless there's something in it for you,

You can't control others actions, evil is powerful, if it's trying to get you, it will, hurt will find you sometimes, it will knock you down,
Brush it off, get back up, and show the world your smile, because that was then, and this is now,

The choice you have to make is not who is worthy of your love, the choice is how do you love others, from the bottom to the top,
Help them, hear them, hold them, never turn away anyone who comes seeking help, whether they are worthy or not,

Love everyone from the day you meet them, because you may be the only person who ever loved them at all,
Love seems small and taken for granted by those who have it, but if it's new to you, any amount of love you receive, isn't small,

Be a bigger person, bigger is better, love the evil around you, because without the evil, love wouldn't feel so great,
You'll be betrayed, you'll get hurt, but if you love those who hurt you, trust me, loving them wasn't the mistake,

Don't just be different, be the difference, evil will show itself more clearly, when you confront it with you heart,
Every situation needs a hero, if you don't know how to help someone through the hard times, LOVE is the best place to start,

Head Held High

HEAD HELD HIGH

YOU THINK I’M DONE, FINISHED, BOUT TO GIVE UP,
 THAT’S AIGHT, I’LL BE FINE

I BEEN DOWN ON MY LUCK BEFORE YOU CAME ALONG,
AND I’M SURE THIS WON’T BE TH LAST TIME

YOU THINK LIFE’S TOUGH, OK
CUZ I KNOW THAT I’M TOUGHER,

YOU CAN KEEP LOCKING THE DOORS,
AND I’LL KEEP LOOKIN FOR ANOTHER

I’M NOT PHASED, OR DEFEATED,
DAMN SURE AIN’T DONE,

DON’T YOU GET IT? I’M NOT LIVING FOR ME ANYMORE,
 I’M LIVING FOR MY SON

I’M A SURVIVOR, GUESS WHAT I DO,
 SURVIVE,

IT JUST MEANS I AIN’T AMAZING RIGHT NOW,
BUT EVEN ON MY WORST DAY, I’M STILL JUST FINE

NO SHORTCUTS, I DO THINGS THE "RIGHT WAY",
WITH NO DESCRIMINATION HONESTLY AND FAIR

WOULD I WANT ARLO TO SEE ME DO THIS, LIKE JIMINY CRICKET,
 THAT QUESTION, IS ALWAYS THERE

SO GO AHEAD DEMONS,
I’M READY,
 LET’S BRING ON THE RAIN,

THE ROUTE MAY ALTER,
 BUT MY DESTINATION
WON’T EVER CHANGE,

Just Live

Live it up, while you still can,
Because life, won't happen again,

Don't think of tomorrow, or the day after that,
Live your life for today, because that's where you're at,
Don't dwell on the past, because it's done,
Your life may not be long, and you only get one,

Don't think about, what you don't have,
Think of what you've still got, and what you've had,

Take a chance, go out on a limb,
That chance just might, not come again,

Live for yourself, not anyone else,
Because when they're gone, you're all by yourself,

When one door closes, another will open,
It just might be, the one you were hoping,

There is no fate, there's no destiny,
We make our own lives, from what we believe,

Don't live you life, in constant sorrow,
Because the best day you've ever had, may be tomorrow

So what do you think, would be the best day of your life,
Well do it today, because tonight might be, you last night

Happy 25th Wedding Anniversary

Wisdom and guidance, it came from you both
One I confide in, the other I don't,

We can talk about sports, or watch the ball game,
With the other I can't, it wouldn't be the same,

Forgiveness and loving, I've learned from you both,
With one I can go golfing, the other I don't,

We have our morning smoke, and coffee at dawn,
The other I can't, cause you work all night long,

Family and respect, I've learned from you both,
No matter where my life takes me, I'll never forget, there's no place like home,

From boy to a man, if I had just one of you, to guide me through life,
I'd be half the man that I am, but, I'd still be alright,

But that I've never encountered, I've had you both,
Making me twice the man, I could've been, you both helped me grow,

What I'm trying to say's, from birth, until death,
To have 2 parents that love each other, I've truly been blessed.

Through My Eyes

I saw someone the other day, I think you know who he is,
I don't know him that well, but I wish that I did,

It got me thinking, what if, I don't get to see him again?,
Do you think he'd know, that he's still my best friend?,

He's a really smart guy, he's more selfless than any man I know,
He'd bend over backwards for anyone, he gives people hope,

He's forgiving, and kind, and gives everyone, the benefit of the doubt,
Friend, family, or a stranger, he's not bias, he'll help anyone out,

He's old, with plenty of memories, and fewer regrets,
He'll forgive almost anything, but he won't forget,

I've learned a lot from him, even though, I don't know him that well,
Very pleasant man, and he always has a story to tell,

He may seem tough on the outside, for those who don't know,
But inside he's filled with compassion, straight down to the bone,

Full of advice, and if you don't want it, you'll get it still, he don't care,
But if he does anything, he tries his very best, to be fair,

I'm told he once was a lot different, but it's hard to believe,
Because I've never seen him any other way, since I was three,

That's good though, he's put his demons behind him,
He's found himself peace, now with God there beside him,

No one chooses, how life turns out, or what God has in mind,
But I know if I end up like him, I'll be just fine,

He's my one piece of evidence, that it's true, people can change,
I promise you, Dad, one day, when I'm ready, I'll do the same

Speechless

Speechless, as he stares at the wall,
Doesn't say nothing, to no one at all,

Others poke him, and call him names,
But he says nothing, during their games,

They tease and they laugh, and they taunt,
Teachers speak to him, but get no response,

When he gets home, the same happens there,
It's hard to believe, that even his parents don't care,

Then at night, he lays there in fear,
And he cries and he cries, until he has no more tears,

His parents have drunken, themselves half to death,
Oh lord what does this, child have left.

He Saves Me

HE SAVES ME

The finish lines getting further away, I'm limping along, I wish I knew how to give up,
At least life waits for it to get tough, before it gets tough, to prepare you for what's REALLY tough,
I wanna scream out so loud, so I can drown out this never ending pain,
I feel him watching me as I pull my blanket over my head, it's driving me insane,
Under my blanket I try to be quiet, but the tears just started to pour,
Please tell me he's not looking he went away, but I know he's sees it all and more,
My sobs slow down, I feel embarressed, my best friend saw me cry like a baby,
Then I feel the blanket embrace me softly, whatever it was I felt so much safety,
He starts rubbing my back, asking if I'm ok, supporting my in a way no buddy ever had,
I wonder how can he still love me when i'm hurting like this, he says, you'll be ok DAD

Book: Reflection on the Important Things
