Whats the Puropse

Tell me whats the purpose
the purpose of why the grass is green
and it can be any color it wants
puropse of birds flying
people walking
fish swimming
whats the purpose
can you explain
why?

Tell me why we had civil rights leaders
whats the purpse of them risking their lives
all the marches, all the speeches, the life risking
broken families, boycotts, sitdowns, riots
whats the puropse of these people doing this, going through this
whats your purpose martin luther king
whats your purpose malcolm x
was it for these bad little kids
who purposely take things for granted
education, dropping out, getting suspended
that their grandparents didnt have
wanna spend more time on the streets
than in some books bettering themselves
but instead they rather kill themselves
illing themselves with gang violence
sex, drugs, peer pressure
life
little boys growing up doing what with their lives
busy hustling, smoking
what these boys should do?
little girls destorying their lives
getting pregnant, sleeping with any man that tells them they love them
save these children

this is the purpose of our generation
save the children
change ourselves
save society
and if thats not our duty
then whats our purpose?

Different

You and I

Whats so different?

Both the same color of the night

Same nappy hair

Dances with the movement of the wind

Same large eyes

Big lips

Big noise

curves

HIps as wide as the sky

But how are we different? You and I

Just because of our history

Well...

I struggle most of my life

Going in and out of hard times

But i'm a hardworking student

a wonderful cashier

Proud as a lion

Speaks with attitude

Miss. Independent

That's me.

Is That You?

What's your background.

Describe yourself?

I'm waiting.

Why haven't you said anything?

Maybe because we are

Different

Your thoughts

Your past

No wonder why your silent

Your just my reflection.

Different..
