Wayne Marques Poem
Like a broadsword through my empty chest,
Your words hurt, though said in jest.
I returned your anger with only laughter,
Your words hurt, you cared not after.
My soul I spilled but you didn’t care,
Your words hurt, my walls stripped bare.
My heart I was ready to give,
Your words hurt, too much to live.

Wayne Marques Poem
As I lay,
My heart is twisting.
Trying to think,
My mind keeps drifting.
Above all else,
My soul remains missing.
As I sit,
My heart starts lifting,
Things clear up,
My mind comes calling.
More vital,
My soul is returning.
As I stand,
My heart begins beating.
My thoughts have returned,
My mind is mending.
To my joy,
My soul is beaming.
First, I lay, because of pain,
Then I sit, to begin to heal,
Though when I stand, I never quit.

Wayne Marques Poem
Set adrift in a wooden coffin,
Would I see her again? I wondered often.
Surely this sea will take me in under,
Yet I sail for fame and plunder.
As many before and many after,
I have seen the sorrow and then some laughter.
To erase that which has crossed my eyes,
I stare into a darkened sky.
This sky seems dark and dreary,
And as I stare it makes me weary.
Fire! Is heard all around,
But to this wooden coffin I am bound.
Do I burn or do I swim,
With each choice I cannot win.
As the boat begins to fill,
Into the sea I fall by will.
To get my mind off the cold,
I think of the joke that a mate has told.
Holding on to this wood,
Let go now? I think I should.

Wayne Marques Poem
My heart I gave
My heart you took,
You left me with a belief that is shook.
We shared some laughs
We shared our hurt,
You made me feel as low as dirt.
I gave my all
I gave what you did not need,
You stayed for what can only be greed.
The hurt was on purpose
The hurt was to win,
You made me feel like a jester’s twin.
Time has come
Time will pass,
Though my heart is still broken glass.
