Karl Goulbourne Poem
Mama
Her patient love
Her caring voice
Her kind deeds
Her loving heart
A woman of integrity and pride
One who would do anything for her child
A wonderful person is she
Who gives of herself to all including me
Even though she can be strict
She can also be fun
When hard times come
She shines like the sun
And always over come

Karl Goulbourne Poem
This is not my life
Where is the remote
I wanna rewind
What was on my mind?
This is no joke
Was I on some dope?
Smoking shag or sniffing coke
Is there any hope
I just can’t cope
Wasted time in school
Ignoring all the rules
Thought I had the tool
Now winding up a fool
This can’t be my life
Who to blame
When I took life as a game
It’s as if I’m going insane
Just disgrace and shame
God, it was just a dream
It was just a dream
But it seems so real
Life seems so mean in that funny dream
Gotta wake up, wise up and flip the scene

Karl Goulbourne Poem
Black, black
Born black
Head to toe black
Back black, side black, cock black
Every inch black
Midnight without a star,
Black Friday, black Saturday, every day black male
Black out from home
Black in the pen
Ba, ba, black sheep off the streets
Whack, whack stocked against black Jack
Black hair, black beard
Pirate, attack black
Rat-a-tat, payback
Skin shine, melanin design, black Knight
Black Friday night

Karl Goulbourne Poem
"Illusions of Love"
Judged at every stage, condemned from the start,
Labelled and demonized—torn apart.
Mistreated, ill-treated, seen as a threat,
Running for safety but never safe yet.
Love, an illusion, elusive at best,
A dream we chase but never possess.
Mother, grandmother, lover, or wife—
All turn cold, cutting deep like a knife.
From society’s glare to the home’s dark gaze,
The criticism burns in a thousand cruel ways.
Words as a weapon, sharp as a scalpel,
Leaving us scarred, doubting our price.
How can we be good fathers, strong men of grace,
When the ones meant to hold us throw shame in our face?
Every embrace feels laced with disdain,
And hope fades under this unending pain.
The system is brutal, but what cuts even more,
Is seeking refuge in hearts turned cold.
Negative, bitter, vibrations that kill,
Turning love into poison, making joy stand still.
Judge, jury, executioner in every small fight,
Swift to emasculate, draining our light.
From living rooms to sidewalks, we’re stripped of our pride,
Nowhere to stand, nowhere to hide.
Mistreated, ill-treated, the cycle goes on,
The man disappears, and the boy is withdrawn.
Love becomes nothing but a dangerous snare,
A mirage in the desert, dissolving in thin air.
So when they ask why some of us can’t be good men—
Remember the shackles, the wounds deep within.
For a heart that’s been shattered by those it adored
Can never grow whole, when it’s always at war.

Karl Goulbourne Poem
Wrong move, wrong move,
Gun in hand barking strong
Knocked the lady with basket in hand,
Her only wrong, is to feed her throng
King man that's wrong,
Pretending you don’t understand
Wrong move, missiles flying, children dying, family crying
Black attacks black, this is no shock, it’s coming from way back
Wrong move, what are you trying to prove
King man that’s Delusion and we are not listening to radio fusion, so there should be no confusion
Refuse man to be used man, people are not amused
man,
You walking with gun in hand making ghost, is that your plan
Wrong move, make no excuse, Sniffing dope without hope,
head mad no good
Snuffing out lives in your neighbourhood
One day the table will turn man, don’t wait until there’s no return man
King man, immerse your mind in positive vibes to stay alive man
Making ghost is not a joke so show remorse
Violence is a curse man, not to be nursed man, or it will get worse man
Reverse the hearse man, the only wise plan to keep the earth alive man

Karl Goulbourne Poem
Meet me at the seaside this hot summer night
Let us swim in the salty water as if it’s our own private pool.
We'll forget about the world and all its silly rules
Think not of tomorrow only of today
The moon’s light shines bright like the sun yesterday,
Let us dance in the moonlight thinking only of tonight
We holding each other right throughput the night
I will whisper softly to you my darling, how I love you only
My heart I have given to you but I’m feeling so lonely
Meet me tonight under this bright light
Let my heart be comforted, let it moans no more
Let it finds peace and love on this brightly lit shore
Meet me tonight my babe, my sweets, please don’t disappoint
My eyes are open widely to feast on your beauty through this night
Meet me and let us swim playfully like two dolphins
Dive with me in this cool water, let our bodies do the talking
Meet me and let me pledge my heart to you once more
You are the only one I truly adore
I’ll wait here for sure by this beautiful seashore praying again, you’ll not ignore

Karl Goulbourne Poem
Change of Tide
Life is not always what it seems.
One pebble makes a ripple, a wave, tsunami
Shattered dream floats in a stream,
Tears damn dam
Internal isolation, finger slammed
Heart wrenched, what a jam
Floating, floating dreams a dying, can't stop crying, bereaved, pining for Mourning the lost which can't be found,
Change of Tide, changes, change embraced, mending, needles sewing bits together, all's not lost.... Change of Tide

Karl Goulbourne Poem
Pain, heartache, heart impaled
Blood, blood runs through my veins
Hot, red cascades, flows without restrains
Pulsating deep inside, tick tock beats like a drum
Rhythm, rhythm, eyes opened wide
Thought you were one I could confide
Knife in your hand, stabs deep
Wolf pretending to be sheep
Why couldn’t I see it?
Not even a little peep?
Mercy lord, she wants to put me to sleep
Permanently, six foot deep
She’s a mercenary and a creep
Thinking life's dirt cheap
Lord, please don’t let me die in this dump heap
Please let me stretch out in my Jeep
The Only sweet words came from down deep,
Is, what she sows she will reap
Then permanently I fell asleep
This piece is about a rich man falling in love with a woman, a mercenary who wanted everything but his heart. She pretended for a while but eventually murdered him and took over all his earthly possessions.

Karl Goulbourne Poem
River runs deep, runs red
Rolled up my sleeves
Water covers my head
Washed away troubles
Rid the mind of dregs
Memory, blood, sweat and tears, lying on the river bed
To you I am clean base on your plans and schemes
My body you now control but I, my immortal soul
