A Celebration of Life

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE

The loss of your Mother:
a feeling of no other,
sadness and sorrow,
tears of grief continue into tomorrow.

Your Mother,
whose pain has ceased, is now at peace.
The afflictions of old-age have been released.

Your Mother,
who gave you birth,
has left her heritage here on earth.
The Circle of Life reigns
as her blood runs through your veins.

Your Mother,
now retired from an earthly life,
nurtured you tenderly as a child.
Her soul now observes
as you provide nutriment to your own, with verve.

Your Mother,
who guided you into adulthood,
has left her mark on this earth,
leaving you with choices for your future worth.

Your Mother
provides you with joyous memories no one can part,
moments in which to create treasuries,
yours to keep close to your heart.

Rejoice! as you applaud a true Celebration of Life!
Smile, as your Mother's memory remains,
...until you meet again.

Friendships

FRIENDSHIPS

Fair-weather friendships -
easily broken
as new interests beckon,
like an impatient wind
passing through,
rushing to its next destination.

Friendships of convenience -
easily broken
as the benefits fade,
Like a parasite
exploiting its host.

Friendships of pleasure -
easily broken
as exhilaration subsides,
like a roller-coaster ride
driven by its thrill.

Friendships for the good -
long-lasting
as the connection deepens,
nurture us, through a humble heart,
like a fertile soil
giving nutriment to plants as they flourish.

Non-judgmental friends -
support us
like massive trees
shielding delicate birds' nests,

Adventurous friends -
entice us out of our shells,
giving us confidence to fly
like a kite in the wind.

An honest confidant -
like a tremor of the earth,
lets us hear the harsh truth.

The wise mentor -
like a train leaving the station,
guides us in the right direction.

Dependable neighbours -
like angels in disguise,
have each other’s backs.

Balanced friendships are divine,
nourishing and life-giving.
Value them.

Sunrise

??SUNRISE??

I am in my much treasured haven,
As I witness the first blush of Sunrise
On a Palmtree-lined beach,
At Daybreak.

Awaiting First Light,
I savour the crisp coolness
Of a moderate breeze,
As I stroll slowly across the soft sand
To the seashore,
Leaving a curving trail of fleeting footprints
Along the water's edge.
Smooth, fine beach-sand runs between my toes,
Gentle waves wash over my bare feet.
A wonderful, scintillating feeling of renewal.

In anticipation of Dawn,
Loving couples stroll hand-in-hand,
Traversing the cool, sandy beach.
Others perform customary religious rituals
Across the shallow breakers.
Excited children frolic and laugh
In the illuminating waves.
Each and every one immersed
In their own special Sanctuary.

Over the distant Horizon,
Appearing gradually,
Is the long-awaited Aurora,
Contributing a beacon of light
To the morning sky.
Slowly, a round, orange glow of brightness intensifies,
Culminating in a blaze of awe-inspiring brilliance!

A new beginning...
I feel refreshed.
My mind is filled with wonder
At the sight!
A precious moment to cherish!
