Crows

I saw a Crow---In the top of a tree
A very short tree---No taller than me
There on the ground---There under that tree
There sat a Coyote---Way shorter than me

What's he doing there---There under that tree
Maybe the Crow's lunch---I'll just wait and see
No, that's not it---The Crow up and flew
Coyote walked away---Nothing else to do

Confused

CONFUSED

Sometimes I wonder...about my brain
Am I smart...or totally insane?

Others wonder also...about my head
Am I alive...or upright dead?

Don't know what...life's all about
If I did...maybe I'd shout.

Sometimes I wonder...maybe I've died
Nobody's said...maybe they've lied.

Friends talking now...behind my back
Po'boys bonkers...po'boys cracked.

Dang Yankees

DANG YANKEES

I got a hole in my head
I wish I was dead
Somebody shot a hole in me.

My ears are gone
I feel something's wrong
Why am I tied to this tree?

I want 'a go home
My buddies are all gone
Nothing here I want 'a see.

Yankees are winning
Seems they are all grinning
Not a safe place to be.

So all in all
I'm having a ball
Wouldn't you agree.

Deadern Hades

DEADERN HADES

What in the world am I doing in this place
If the creatures see me I know they'll give chase

The full moon glistens through the trees
I have to leave this place, don't you see

I see them feverously searching for my trail
Horrible looking creatures with great long tails

I'll reach for a limb in this tree and hang on
If I hang on this limb long enough maybe they'll be gone

They creep, they crawl, they slither through the woods
I had to stay out of sight , they best that I could

I feel the limb breaking, Lord I know I'm not worth a dime
I see their mouths gaping, I guess it's feeding time.

If By Chance

If by chance we meet
On a star brightened night
When all the world is asleep
And the clouds have fled from sight.

When the universe seems endless
And your world is so sublime
We'll set and talk with each other
If our journeys cross in time.
