Aftermath of a Storm

The wind dies down
People peek out their windows
To see the damage done
And damage has been done indeed
Branches strewn everywhere
Small fires
Power lines knocked down
Leaves and petals all over the streets
Garbage cans a few houses over from where they reside
Eventually, people start picking up the wreckage
Branches are thrown back in the woods
Fires are put out
Power lines fixed
Leaves and petals swept up
Garbage cans put back in people's garages
The sun shines
And all is well in the world again

Tragedy

Hurts the soul and breaks
The heart into a hundred
Miniature pieces

Halloween

Children frolicking
Running from house to house, full
Of joy and candy

Eyes Are Windows To the Soul

Her smile was fake
No matter how she hid it
Her eyes screamed “Help me.”

Feel free to comment!!!!!

A Bird In Flight

Soaring through the air
The bird was free as can be
Angel of the skies

Broken

I can no longer hide the sadness with a smile
I can no longer say "I'm fine"
Because I'm not fine
Like a tree in an empty forest, I fell and nobody heard
Did I even make a sound?
I can't explain what I'm feeling inside
It's a bit of emptiness, self-loathing, anxiety,
sadness, numbness, apathy, guilt over feeling this way when so many have it worse
All mixed together
Creating a storm of suffering
I won't open up to anyone I know about this
I won't burden them with my problems
Because their happiness is more important than my mental health and well-being
I'm worthless
I've never been worth anything
Maybe that's why nobody cares
Maybe that's why the one person I told brushed it off
I lie here, broken
Trying to put my misery into words
I can only describe it as a monster
That attacks me again and again
Taking away my happiness
My enthusiasm
My passion for life and everything I do
I need help
But I feel I don't deserve it
I want to die
So I use sleep as my escape from life
I want to harm myself
But I don't know how to do it inconspicuously
I use sleep to temporarily escape from these emotions that grab hold of me
I sit here, pouring out my feelings
Hoping I'll get better
Feeling like I never will
Wondering if I'll ever be cured

Mood

in a war inside my head
have to drag myself out of bed
why oh why can't i just be dead?
darkness settles over me
as do sadness, loneliness, and emptiness three
no one sees what's happening to me
i laugh or smile
and it's gone for a while
but it always comes back to make me feel vile
it's always there
even when i say a prayer
to stop this wear and tear
on my heart and on my mind
every day, i am resigned
to this feeling that makes me blind
to all the happiness in life
it gives me strife
and cuts me like a knife
this is my mood.
**DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT BASED ON DEPRESSION, SEEING AS HOW I DON'T KNOW IF I HAVE DEPRESSION OR NOT. IT SURE SEEMS LIKE IT, BUT JUST IN CASE, KNOW IT IS ONLY BASED ON HOW I FEEL.**

Words

Words are the most powerful thing in the universe
More powerful than force or fear
Words can motivate armies of a hundred thousand strong
They can break people
Heal people
Move people
Make people get up and take a stand
Words can make people come together or break apart
They can be deep and strong, or light and fluid
They can change something inside of everyone
In their mind, their heart, their soul
Words are full of power

Colors

The colors filled the painter’s workshop
The pigments of the heavens above
The yellows of the sun
The blues of the sky
The greens of the grass
The purples of the soul
The reds of the most coveted rubies
These colors mixed together
And they created something beautiful
Something straight from the artist’s imagination
Something that freed the artist of his worries and his fears

Shannon Inspired

Head full of thoughts of darkness
Everything doesn't matter
Light has gone from the world (mostly)
Please help

My friend Shannon challenged me to write a dark poem, so I did. This is the product.
