Just in the feeding of one who is hungry
Or giving drink to someone who is thirsty
To clothe those who have no clothes
Or sheltering the homeless in times of woes
Visiting and caring for those who are ill in bed
Help the imprisoned and always respect the dead
These are the seven simple Corporal Works of Mercy
For within our self it is others suffering that we can see
But we must also instruct those who are ignorant
And those who are in doubt, counseling in His Word sent
And in even admonishing sinners and the direction of their way
While bearing wrongs patiently this is what Jesus would say
And forgive all offences willingly and without delay
Taking time to comfort the afflicted by helping them in their way
And continue to pray for both the living and the dead.
