Cuddling and being cuddled while

Three generations in this vacation is simply ecstatic.
Adoring the rarity of my aged mother's company,
Spoiling my daughters with love, running around with their little daughters,
Yakking and laughing, keeping all elements alive, is my lifetime's achievement!

Complaining of the waning interest in their air 
to the mayor who sits upon his throne,

failing to clean the railing leading to bedroom,

to sanctify the event to which they went....

and rolling out their
long rags.

The morning is a frost
broken in clamorous relief.

Frayed holes in their eaten
gloves carry a crushed chore,
a rotted job bundled in skins
of wet plastics.

They emerge from a deep 
hidden hour
riding the back jaws
of neglected mammoths.

A storm hammers
in the scrape of their tongues.

The dogs lunge
for their voices.

They remove what lingers too long
from our past.

Of criers, critics, and claimants
  That commonly carp at me.

Calm, cool contemplation
Called out its care and concern:
Consider a commitment to courage
  Fortitude's clear-headed urn.

Calculating quickly a crisis,
I had come to the critical curve:
Could I commit to courage and clarity--
  Or into craven cowardice would I swerve?
