They say out WES a man kin get RICH
I reckon I'll make it if I don't LANDON a ditch
or get ROBbed on a train
IDA better HOPE, not complain.

I'll DON my hat, then go find me a treasure
then PAT my pockets with pure gold
luck WILL FLO in good measure.

I MAE even LEN some money to Uncle LARRY
he's OWEN everyone in town, it's downright scary!
So BARRYed in debt is poor Uncle LARRY
he SHIRLEY needs cash, he better not TERRY
and pay off his debts in a great big hurry.

Yes, out WES, I'll STAN tall with success
I know I kin end up with more, not LES.
I'll be the GLADYS man around, just you wait
still, I'll CARRIE my trusty old gun, JUSTIN case!
fun

Winter in die Wes Kaap : Winter in the Western Cape

[Afrikaans Poem with English Translation]
_______________________

My lippies is asvaal van koud
Weskaap hou van ysdruppels in die wind
         als gaan goed met Tafelberg
in Houtbaai ly die mense honger
                             en wag vir sout

Tog gaan my heup op en af in die oggend
soos ek ‘n kleurvolle kundalini verlang
of sewe oop chakras as ek bewe
wanneer die pyn rond my liggaam hang

Agter die wolke is Son daarem daar
verby yster voorhek stap kindertjies nog skool
         die mint groei wragtig wild
terwyl Madiba vir ons stukkend lag !

[English Translation ]

Lips ash grey of cold
Western Cape enjoys icicles in its wind
        Table Mountain is calm
in Hout Bay people are starving
                                waiting for salt

Nevertheless my hips rise and fall at dawn
   longing for a colourful kundalini
or seven open chakras as I shiver
whilst pain hangs around body

Behind clouds the Sun still shines
pass iron frontgate children still walk to school
      the mint grows profusely
while Madiba roars with laughter !
