Echoes of Children

I was going through pictures I found in our attic
Pictures of our first newborn and more
Echoes of children ran through my mind
Like the surf hitting a distant shore
First day of school as proud as could be
First birthday party and riding his bike
On a picnic one summer under a tree
One getting ready for a Cub Scout hike
I stopped for a moment and gazed at the wall
Echoes of children playing in the hall
I found more in a box barely within reach 
From a family vacation in Virginia Beach
Little league pictures and ones from fifth grade
Marching in the Memorial Day parade
One taken with Santa and with Mickey Mouse
Echoes of children in this old house
