What is the sound of zion?
Is it furious thunder and the raucous of revolution?
Is it Chimes cascading a symphonic climax?
Perhaps?
But I tell you, the sound of zion, is more than just that!
It is the coo, the giggle, and the mischievous cough of a soul that knows little of anger.
It is the comfort of being between us.
And the joy of our attention,
It is the smile that breaks through my façade of strength, and reveals me as the fearful
father, begging God for her safety.
I tell you, the sound of zion, for me, just for me, God’s whisper, God’s coo, as articulated
through the wondrous vessel of infancy,
It is the knowledge that as I talk of politics and financial collapse,
That all she can see is possibility and amazement,
For it is in her innocence that I know that hope cannot die, and that hate must one day pass
on to Sheol.
I am a man of causes, many causes.
But there is a voice, the voice of zion that beckons to me like no other.
It is the coo of my Gabrielle, messenger from God.
