Premium Member The Seaside Lullaby Sonnet Kyrielle

Your daddy's boat is on its way.
The lighthouse sends a gleaming ray
that blinks and whirls in starry sky.
For you, sweet babe, this lullaby.

You soon shall be on Daddy's knee,
for though tonight he rides the sea,
he follows gulls that homeward fly.
I sing the seaside lullaby.

The beacon's beam is light that guides;
it's steadfast as the ocean's tides.
So close your eyes, for sleep is nigh.
For you, sweet babe, this lullaby.

Your daddy's boat is on its way.
I sing the seaside lullaby.

The Tulip Fairies

Deep in the land of the Cumberland
Where the moonbow blushes the sky
The tulip fairies were dancing
As the tune of the loon filled the sky

Dearest Nell Louise looked especially gay
In her skirt of dogwood blossom
So light on her feet and quite admired
By a wide eyed baby opossum

She danced through the night with her sisters
Her favorite was sweet Madeline
They swayed to the music of the night
While their suitors waited in line

Friend toad he did sing his heart out
He lent his bass to the loon
He wasn’t much for dancing
But oh how that froggy could croon

Before the dawn could creep
Back to their tulips they’d fly
They’d snuggle in tight in their cup homes
As the breeze rocked a sweet lullaby

Dedicated to Nell Louise Wise
In memory of Madeline Ainsworth

Premium Member Sweet Shelly

If I could live under the sea
I would marry my sweet mermaid Shelly
Oh how happy the two of us would be
Swimming forever in the deep blue up to the brimme

The fish would wish they could be us
For we could survive in sea to shore
The world be our oyster overstuff
With pearls her I adore

Sunken treasures of the past
We could explore but ignore
Our love enough for us to last
For free is the sea forever more

Choral gardens rich in life
Colors glow from sunbeams light
Ride the waves no worries or strife
Moonbeams spiral into our night

With a roof of water over our heads
Safe from storms let them blow
Huddle and cuddle in the octopus's bed
Asleep to dreams that flow

The shark's all bite, the whale has tales
The otters play, the crabs are crabby
The dolphins laugh, the old squid smells
The penguins dance, the walrus is flabby

The seals bark, the eels glow
The shrimps are shrimps, the seagull steals
The lobster diets, the seahorse was rode
And the porpoises were all pale

Just a day benaeth a wave
For my Sweet Shelly and me
Happy to be married to a meramid
With baby mermaid soon to be
