Moonchild born
Named Jakayla Mynda
meaning girl crowned in laurel
becomes woman of great knowledge
The moon my husband
As cerubims of blue
come to cut the silvery cord
of nourishment
Souls being nourished
and the babe growing with earthly
and surreal parents
Her star chart is a stellar one
A moonchild wears her crown of laurels
and her knowledge grows abundantly
day by day til the moon shines down

Butterscotch Moon

holding hands, just my love and I
gazing into the great Wyoming sky
what looked to me like a giant balloon
was indeed a golden ecliptic moon

looking up at the giant lost balloon
thoughts of grabbing onto its tail
laughing and running, hand in hand
with a butterscotch moon fast on our trail

it seems so close I can almost taste it
this butterscotch moon before our eyes
I reach up to the sky realizing I can't make it
this yummy morsel before our eyes

at first it looked just like vanilla
all smooth and creamy and mellow
but as the earth's shadow moved
its color changed to a deeper yellow

as the darkening shadow creeps on by, I'm reminded
darkness fades, we have new craves, changes of heart
whether it's giant balloons or butterscotch moons
we're all God's most precious, perfect art
