Wake Me Up When September Ends

Every September it's always the same
I don't know how else to explain it
I'm up with my back against the wall
I know without even thinking

This time around I have a new date
and I don't want to make it hard
and get pushed away
It's just something that comes

Tension I feel
waiting for everything to fall apart
Meetings to help me back in the cycle
It all begins again

A way to start the new school year
will always haunt me
and cause me to give up hope so early
All in just a week

As the weekend turns
there's only one more month to go
and I'll be free for another year
as it all cycles again

I don't know if it'll ever stop
but at this point I sure hope it would
I've visited it enough
5 years is long enough
