Voodoo Queen of New Orleans

She was tall and lovely from 'way down south,
she had blood on her hands, blood on her mouth.
She got voodoo spells and incantations.
She lived on one of those big plantations.
Had she done something bad? Well I don’t know.
She went by the name of Marie Laveau.

She had golden skin and curly black hair.
Down near the bayou you could find her there.
With her big old snake wrapped around and 'round,
it was party time when the sun went down.
Cauldron would bubble and naked they'd dance.
Potions concocted, 'round the fire she’d prance.

She had a mojo hand, a black cat bone.
You’d never want her to catch you alone.
There were stories told of the men she’d charmed;
take her husband Jacques, he wasn't alarmed,
he just disappeared, he never returned,
just ashes left and the incense she burned.

Marie has a tomb down in New Orleans,
she'll be ever known as the Voodoo Queen.
Eternally lives as a big black crow,
the fire in its eyes is a reddish glow.
Scratch three X’s, leave a gift in the glass,
then make your wish, it just might come to pass.

You, Lyrics Contest

“Hello, I’ve waited here for you, everlong”
Inside the deepest parts of me, I knew there was something wrong.
The call and echo whispering in the night,
My forever, I admit, I put up quite a fight.

“You ignite the fire in my eyes”
You clear my head from all those lies,
Bringing forth the truth, so I may rest my soul,
I now know it is you that is really in control.

“The warmth of your embrace melts my frostbitten spirit
You speak the truth and I hear it”
The fire inside is lit.
The need for understanding, silenced for a change
I use to grow tired, but then you suddenly rearranged.

“I'll never be the same, I'm caught inside the memories, the promises
are yesterdays and I belong to you.”
I grew my wings and flew,
The rain it has cleansing power,
Your presence is my strong tower.

Exhaust

My brain gauge is on E.
My mind's running on fumes.
Just when I want to be free,
My feet are starting to root.

My spirit's racing a mile a minute
Endless miles, this road's infinite
Tell me when did I begin it?
I really hate this commute.

Maybe, today's the day.
I'll fuel my fire and get away,
Won't let myself decay,
But I would if I'd stay.

I'm always restless all the night through,
My dreams won't come, I've no relief,
'Cause every where I turn I find you,
It's time we both turn a new leaf.

And one last stop for gasoline,
Pay to a washed up beauty queen,
A dollar in the Coke machine,
Wave goodbye in disbelief.

Maybe, today's the day.
I'll fuel my fire and get away,
Won't let myself decay,
But I would if I'd stay.

Firefall

Firefall,
         the fire fell,
                out of heaven
                       straight to hell.

  Fallen angel
        burning wings
             how the touch of
                    you still stings.

I know I'll never care again,
for falling angels on the wind,
who take you with them as they go
                  through the vortex,down below.

to spiral down, and in that spin,
to show you things that might have been.
caught between the earth and sky,
                 your love can't live,your love won't die.

and when the wings have burned away,
       it's just a soul who's gone astray.
mere mortals cannot bear such pain,
as fallen angels in the rain.

   the fire goes out
      and love must die,
           when angels can't
                  reclaim
                             the
                                  sky...............

Premium Member When Fire Met Oil

never wanted to be alone

all my life that's all it's been

one big show of happiness

one long trail of tears

never wanting to be alone

i pretend i'm all i need

i've gotta be somebody, anybody, but myself

i want to live each day as my last

hoping i'd attract someone like you

waiting all my life

pretending i'm all that i need

then you come into the picture

that's when fire met oil

burning my dreams to the ground

into a pile of ash

crashing what dignity i had

i bit off more than i could chew

as i brushed the ashes off

just so i wasn't alone

you've made a name for yourself

that's one step up from being nobody

now your the *******

that everyone's talking about

the one that everyone's staring at

now your the one alone

and i'm standing in the crowd

making a name for myself

i'm not alone

thanks to your hard lesson

when fire met oil
