i won’t stay with the men
who are waiting but what for
and are hearing the thunder ringing
of their hollow bones
and with the women i won’t be
the woman are always somewhere out
and searching searching but what for
the nude to find
the land here is low
dusty
stony
land almost of nails
and of sermons
what kind of love is this one
that should be touched
(male, female)
be broken to pieces
be seen
the end
i won’t stay with the men
and women for knowing
when
“the rose and fire are one”*
T.S. Elliot, Little Gidding
(No. 4 of 'Four Quartets’)
We women work so hard to be accepted.
We women often get neglected,
By members of the opposite sex.
Fathers, brothers, uncles, boyfriends, husbands,
The list goes on.
They always think we have an attitude.
What do you expect?
When we get no attention or recognition dude.
No appreciation is shown when we carry your child.
You’re somewhere playing with the remote,
With another woman, or with the fellas running wild.
While we are at home: cooking, cleaning, paying bills,
Simply multitasking in the home.
You men get mad when we’re too tired to get it on.
We women need appreciation.
We women need to be shown some gratitude
If we women get those two things,
Then maybe, more of us women would be
In the mood for relations.
