Invisible Kid

Invisible Kid

Invisible kid that’s what you were called.
Locked in your room wasn’t punishment at all.

Alone to explore your dreams and read stories,
Alone safe from harm to be whoever you wished.

Fantasies and storytelling for your teddy bears.
Role playing and performing in front of the mirror,
each morning.

Play time with her friends was often,
never rare for the invisible one.
Together, they were little girls fixing
their hair while singing or twirling around
playing dress-up.

But this invisible girl floats alone in her room too much.
All alone and she seems quite happy.

Really, she’s just fading away.
Hiding herself from the violence and scary things
that loom beyond the door.
Afraid of the death scenes,
that might play out any moment.

Oh what a quiet girl she is in her room.
So calm floating around with files of
imaginary things to ponder.

Round and round in herself.
Round and round locked in her brain.
Away from the pain and shame
of her violent and desolate world.

Unplugging from all,
so the fear disappears.

All alone, she stayed in her room.
Suspicious of anyone’s touch,
So independent, she didn’t need a crutch.

Now a grown woman,
when will she come out and share herself
with the world?

Find the Inner Child

Has the little girl been lost?
The one who was left behind
Who saw the world through naive eyes
Who had only the simplest things in mind
And desired only love and affection
From those who could not seem to give it

Where is that child today?
That girl who so often dreamed
Of gallant princes on white stallions
Of castles on distant hills that gleamed
Who wished for that one great love
To come and sweep her off her feet

Is she gone forever?
The tender heart that became tough
She believed that things would turn out okay
She just needed to pray hard enough
Then she would be (and do) the right thing
Instead of making more mistakes

Do you think if I found that child
That I could go back to the long-ago time
To the innocent spirit that saw truth
To the hopeful soul and purest mind
That knew someday all would be well
And believed God had a plan

Malefactor

The kind of girl who
wanders alone
The kind of girl who
doesn't give a s***
The girl with the
wicked gleam in her eye
The girl that causes traffic to slow down,
then frantically speed away
The girl who wanders down the street
and people go inside
The girl that just flaunts her attitude
so there's nothing left to hide
