The Cherokee River

pink head salmon
leap from the
bright river currents of
the Cherokee River and
flop into the hollow mouth
of the black grizzly bear

Yellow River

Go Yellow River
Down this road
Stretch into the
Mouth of the delta and
Breast-feeds our village
With mother’s milk
The villagers say,
Yellow river not far from here

Flow

I traced the run
Of this river
Down the mountains' walls
Through the valleys
Into the flat designs
Of the vast plains
Cutting different landscape
With verocious strength
Constant in its movement..

I let the river
Carry my thoughts
And some of my dreams
To the places mostly unseen
To the people I wanted to meet
But never could.

Then, I waited at the bay
To welcome the foamy waters
Kissing the shore of the sea.
But this journey was not over for me.
This river built my desires
To go and try something new.
And I move, I still move
With eyes wide opened
To the far away shores.
