Best Hopechildren Poems
Asked he, how are you?
i stammered ,i trembled i fumbled
heart will bleed mine
Alas i cannot utter the word , i am fine,
how can i say , i am fine,
countless men women and children dying
countless children forced to sleep
without a single grain to eat,
with so much suppression and oppression around
innocent savoring their wounds
crushed under heavy military boots
bullets piercing innocent chest,
even children not being spared
the world sitting atop the nuclear volcano to blaze,
the mad race for nuclear arms going unfazed
in the mad race to surpass the other
nations have forgotten the role of big brother
out with shameless greed to plunder
the wealth n resources of the nations ,
who cannot resist and stand
forcing the weak to prostrate and surrender
pretending to be saviour, but out to devour
no i cannot be fine,
till there is a tear in a single eye,
and oppressed throats choked with cry
no i can not be fine,
no i can not call such world mine
I yearn for a world ,based on co-operation
no prtence ,no false notion
A world based on mutual trust, faith and concern
co-operation
not suppression
trust ,
not mistrust
truth not deceit,
no wolf in skin of sheep
where the east meets the west
where the north
converges with south
where the white welcomes black
love prevails not hate
no rich and poor devide
weak can live with dignity n pride
yes then only i can say with proud
yes i m fine ,aloud
In youth's frantic clutches
Addicted to vapid touches
Love children spawned in shaded hutches
Existing on euphoric highs, painless crutches
In middle age, lust morphed into longing
Spent body in static sphere now belonging
Neglected prodigy seeking shelter in availing arms
Licentious, pretentious friends fled in swarms
Sins of youth girdle my deserted gates
Promiscuous flings my esteem deflates
Rebellious children their fealty abrogate
Venal lovers rue my chaster estate
In deep morass, my withered soul equivocates
Bridging divide of self pity, butressing hope inflates
Then residual pain with due penance heart conflates
Seeking self forgiveness; from others proffering rebates
Healing balm of inner resolve soothes empty soul
To wayward children unconditional love tendered not in
part but whole
To fair weather friends only distant compassion will dole
Forthrightly, to bring uplifting, sharing friends into my
foal
