Best Familylight Poems

The Family Registry

Mark Gregory Hill-a man among boys.he surveyed land for twenty years or more, could scale
any tree,catch any fish,hunt any animal.now,only a month removed from losing a
child, stands alone, hand in pocket, contemplating the life that took it all.

Harold Gene Smith-the one we call "Nuner",the one who did over a decade of service in the
navy.the man who had kids and tried to raise them.pizza resteraunts, recording music, his
tune never played out and a star never got to shine.he bought land in south carolina and an
idea of marriage, both ruined by now.by time.

Andrew Frank Bowen-the liver.the first to smile and pass the salt.the first given the name
Bowen, our last name.a place to be was work for him.he could carry tragic news and keep it
from you.now, after years of toil and two divorces, kids and bills eat away at his
soul, tormented by the law and the front side of society,he kept his will intact of and above it
all,to be a soldier for the light side.

Christian Keith Bowen-the eternal child.the foremost in thought and wisdom.the right to bear
arms and keep god out of our ideas tis all he stood for.twenty heartbreaking years of service
in the pizza industry and left only with clinched jaws and clinched fists.he misses melissa
chambliss,a light to the world, and he misses his dog sisco, taken from him too soon.to do a
ghostshow on tv and put out a poetry book his only demand.

Marjorie Lynn Bowen-a bastion.her son a child of will and destruction.fear in her eyes never
measured she missed her mom,and toiling never bothered her.she could write the will of
your family and never see the light of day.to move to music she would, and only a diet coke
at the end of the day her reward.

this is my family.brothers and sisters we are.

Auschwitz Mother

AUSCHWITZ MOTHER

mother, your skin
is so thin
the light shines
on your face so bright
i can read
my book
without opening the blinds
or wondering if today
you will be kind.

there is something truly miraculous about you.
you have survived
the death of a baby,
a husband, a son,
yet you will have none
of it for yourself.
your old bones rattle
when you walk
and when you talk

i lean forward to catch
a word here and there
while you lean forward
to bite off my ear.
and when the plates
are on the table
i am perfectly able
to catch your gypsy curse.
(you think i should have suffered worse.)

mother, you are neither gypsy
nor jew but with your dark hair,
dark eyes and wicked smile
you somehow managed to fly
high over the smoke
and never once choked
on the odor of ash and hair.
mother, you even managed
to walk through the gate

and go straight
to those you loved more.
(it wasn't me, was it?)
mother, is it simply
there was no room
in the (your) womb
or did you know
when i emerged different and blue
i managed to know the true you?

mother, your skin
is so thin i can see
the darkness by the light of day
so believe me when i say:

you have not escaped.
they are coming for you today.

My Palace In a Hut

It is a hut with a broken wall and
it’s windows are weak and door less
Though it is weak and old
My palace is in that hut . Y es my palace in that hut.
Every day dawns over my roof and
every drizzle starts from my window
Breeze will come to report to work,
So my palace is in that hut
My angel may be in dirty rags
Her smile is enough to light that palace
She may prepare humble foods but
they are my royal feast
Her hands may be empty with out bangles
her nails will light that dark place
One more pleasure is my little heart
who is inning all my miseries by her smile
she may be in my thatched roof
Her presence will change that hut as a fort
Another reward of my Lord is there
playing with his mighty hands
His strong shoulders with loving face
will chase any troubles and pains
His courage and confidence are my
                              life’s guiding lights
Stars and moon will visit my hut
to fetch a glory of His mercy delight.
We are rich and richest of this world
living with our sweet delights

Camping

 Alone on a summers night.
lanterns lite my way to write.

Children explore the woods
in search of something good.

With nothing more than a flash light on.
As the fire burns strong.

In the morning light
The colds smolder slight.

Friends reminiscing of the past.
Making new memories that will last.

Kids fishing and swimming.
As momma fixes the trimmings.

Learning a little more about who you are
laying under a canopy of stars.

Nature has a precious gift for you.
If you choose to see it too.
