Heroes

Formerly and falsely believed thy cause already lost
Then that was how the myopic simple minds
Viewed a cause so noble and selfless
The hero could only prove him or herself in one way
The loss of precious life, and in death 
They gained status in martyrdom
Now the masses are appeased, sacrificed for ideals
And the comfort of those who could really care less
That's the low road the easy way out
Remember how quickly a spotlight fades
In truth the real hero knows this
The brightest of stars are slow to rise, 
Thus it's folly to sell yourself dearly 
And not wisely
