Tribute Two
My grandma Who else deserves my full hearted thanksgiving If not only you, the strength of my life, grandma You are my life, body and soul, love and courage You toiled for the betterment of this kin’s lifestyle You denied yourself to satisfy my needs, grandma Nearly died of hunger for my belly to remain full And brawled along for me to relax, how then can I perish your goodness in minds? Of course mam I plead a 21 gunshot salute for you are the heroine To my play that screens our struggles for survival From infancy you stood forth a bold heroic posture And became the mother, the father of my endeavour I was poor but you deprived me of poverty, and too No one could drew a demarcation from the general Youth around the hoodie, how then can I forget you In order for me to be educated, you toiled tirelessly In the Kings fields from dawn till the oldest part of The day daily, you remained your back bent hoping That my life turn be a success and too to partake in An innocent lifestyle .... Grandma my smile kipper To have known not discrimination but pure love and The need I bestow deep in hearts for only my prayer Speak of your oldest days on Mother Earth that I dare All my sweat and toil to plough back not in repayment But out of love and compassion that you build inside.
