Victim of the Gods
In the conference of minds the gods created her Most favored she was adorned with wealth It was wealth of all sorts covert, overt and invaluable Then in the middle of the world she was posted Like many rats that make no hole the gods feuded Color was the first point of ulcer confrontation The gods thought en mass black would make her natural One god did not believe un-abused she would live Unsettled this case dangled on the girl’s back Then it affected the flour kneaded for her brain One god wanted a genius with power to sway thinking The rest argued such being would be danger to creation And so this girl was victim of argument of the gods She was placed on earth without final decision by the gods Now lives half-black, half-colorless; half a genius, half a fool In agony she sings dirges; “In the ulterior world I was perfect In this womb of life I am half this, half that. The gods, the gods made me this.”
