The Light of Day
Sol, bloodied and bleeding, slowly starts to set, defeated by night. Chameleon clouds change color, absorbing drops of crimson light. Purple and pink paint western skies, like vermillion carnival glass. And a golden horizon shines like a cauldron of molten brass. Black cloaks the heavens in velvet; an ebony softness that flows. And sleep's allowed to wander free, to tend to fantasies and woes. The sun rises like a phoenix from the charcoal ashes of night. And sets the eastern skies afire with Dawn's exquisite morning light. Orange, yellow, and cinnamon ink scattered clouds of misty grey. And a mix of pastel colors confirms that Sol is on his way. Shadows quiver, breaking from black, as sunrise chases night away. And twinkling stars slowly vanish, washed away by the light of day.
