Steeped In Sheep
At first embarrassed, but later I became afraid. There I was, helplessly covered in a sea of sheep. I was supposed to lead them into their pins, but next thing I knew, I was being smothered. I tell you, it's no one's fault but my own. I meant well, but it was a dumb thing to do. I was not a sheep herding collie, but I saw a job that needed to be done, and since there was no one else available, I not only volunteered but did not tell the whole truth about my past experience. I had seen other dogs doing it and said, "if they can do it, so can I". But I was ever so wrong and imprisoned where I never belonged. My skill set was inadequate, and I was way in over my head, being squeezed from neck to toe. Thank God that I could at least see and hear. I could breathe, but my neck was so tight, I could barely bark. I was at the mercy of my maker and could not move, and praying for first responders. It was going to be very tough, because I was one lone dark head in an ocean of white. However, I was hoping they would see me steeped in sheep. It seemed the sheep was pleased because either they did not know my predicament or they just ignored me. They say that sheep are dumb, but today I was dumber. Fortunately, someone came in the nick of time and rescued me from the sheep pit and from my stupidity. 01122018 PS Contest, There is a brighter side, Eve Roper; Choice of pictures: #3; 1P
