Dear Menopause
Dear Menopause, Thank you for the irregular menstrual flow When it will show up;I don't know The wearing of panty liners everyday Because I don't know when Aunt Flo is on her way For these unexpected burning hot flashes If I was paper I would be in ashes For the intolerable night drenching perspiration Causing all the restless sleep and agitation For the bloating feeling I get in my tummy Making me feel absolutely miserable and crummy For the extra weight I have on my hips Cause I had to eat that whole bag of chips For the stinging statements coming from my tongue All the harsh words that I may have flung For all the intense magnified moodiness The excessive uncontrollable broodiness The overwhelming exaggerated irritability Along with the outright intense hostility The blurting out of what's on my mind Even though it may seem a bit unkind For all the hair I see in my bathtub drain The thinning of my dense, thick, beautiful mane For the mental and physical lethargy The total fatigue and lack of energy For the dry, itchy, crawling skin And this one lone hair upon my chin For the need of a daily snooze This lack of energy gives me the blues For the memory lapses and difficulty concentrating This forgetfulness is becoming frustrating The constant urgent need to urinate Running to the bathroom before it's too late Menopause you cause all these negative things But still there is some positive you bring For helping me voice my unheard point of view Something that I would hardly ever do What others think I could now care less Others I no longer need to impress For reminding me as a woman I am strong Reassurance I have needed for so very long For the lesson that I am actually tough That as a female I am more than enough -C.A.Saputo xoxo
