For the New Year 2018 and Ever After
Better production— an index of economic growth: Whatever be our model of production, Whatever notion of the human it is built on, On whether s/he is rational, As for Aristotle, Adam Smith and Amartya Sen, Or irrational, as for Nietzsche and Richard Thaler, Sustainability must be the key word. Better thinking or resolve leads to better production, And is sustained by better feeling, Not by raw, transitory emotions. A New Year resolution, for instance, is often triggered by reason. And if sustained by the feeling that We are happy about making it And that we will be satisfied with its outcome, It is sustained. Otherwise it easily evaporates. What is suggested here is a little solution in this postmodern space— of little narratives. ***
