Heat Wave
Heat wave As heat is spewing from my system It is followed by the sweat I just settle for the discomfort All I can do is shake my head Never one moment do I enjoy this It’s always untimely and so rude It doesn’t matter if I’m clothed It doesn’t matter if I’m nude I am jealous of Old Faithful And I can hear you asking “Who?” For he also does his spewing But at least it’s done on cue And another thing I’ve noticed In these instances when I’m ’hot’ When I look into my mirror It’s quick to tell me that I’m not I am fanning with a vengeance The temperature is never right What’s hot for others has me freezing Or the other way around, even at night The ocean in me that keeps rolling These waves of heat onto its shore It churns up things that aren’t appealing And I should quickly find a cure. But then again, I am a woman This is a phase I must go through So I might as well accept it And do the best that I can do. Wendy Nipas
