Early To Bed
Dan is gone with no regret Blamed myself could not forget His eyes were always reddened from the tears wiped from his face I could never quite tell why he couldn't tell me Where has he been Was he hiding in the field waiting for night So he could sleep underneath the stars Now he sleeps in the skies No more reason to hide his face No more reason to block his eyes Never told a soul why he couldn't resist the urge to cry Everyone would just point and stare Not a single ounce of care In his head all he could see all the flashback memories But nobody ever said a thing Now he has his wings He watching down on everybody who never showed him a bit of sympathy Yet now they gather around his stone And now they see what he had been through at home Never too late to say sorry but it can be to early say good bye Now they visit everyday To try to understand his pain Thirty years from now they'll still do the same And every time they see a cry for someone to hear They will try to hold him close Wishing it was Dan so they could help overcome his fear
