My Home
Trains resound clear and loud every night our old country home built near that sight street light hits my window, just for spite heater broke--canning froze to be contrite Rotten gate collapsed near the barn big house needs a paint, that’s no yarn chicken coop lost its roof last storm farmers say summer’s gonna be too warm But, my family’s home by God’s grace ancestors gave all for it without disgrace every inch I walked pleases me so the earth, the fields—make my heart glow On the front porch every night, off with my boots our preaching meeting starts when the owl hoots crickets chirp, coyote howls, firefly sparks then old dog fearlessly begins his barks I live in Oklahoma where my grandfather built his home on 200 acres. My father built his house next door. It was a great place for a child to grow up...the perfect place to learn about God, our state, and country.
