Sunrise
Sunrise A pinkish-orange reflection upon the stratus clouds With several hues of blue, overhead and way beyond The trees are silhouette, still dark within their shadows A spasm in my spine shakes the chill within the breeze The sunlight starts to filter; a lighter shade of black The deer; are unaware, as they graze across the field I close my eyes a moment while I breathe this fresher air I say a prayer of thankfulness; Thankful, I am here Her arms then wrap around me; from behind, she pulls me close She whispers me “good morning” as her coffee wafts delight Her chin upon my shoulder, my hand is cupping hers I take a sip of coffee as the sun begins to warm I turn to her, to find her lips, to find her heart in mine The day is finally warming as our bodies gently mold As I open up my eyes to see her peaceful smile The deer have wandered off, where the sun is not so bright © 2017 Jeffrey Spencer
