A Day In My Life
I get up every day and go for a morning run. The exercise is what makes it all worthwhile. At first, it seemed, when I ran fast, I hard more fun. But now, I realize, fast or slow, I always smile. When I run, I feel so very peaceful and calm I’m all alone and have plenty of time to think. It’s hard to believe that I can fit in a person’s palm, And that I’m surrounded by a cage made of chain link. It’s always the same; sunflower seeds are what I eat. I stuff my cheeks until they’re ready to burst. I hide them in a corner and save them for a treat, Hoping no one else will find them and eat them first. It’s the same old routine: run, eat, sleep; everyday. Most of the time, my life is completely boring. But once in awhile, I’m taken out of the cage to play. It’s then that I feel so free and my heart starts soaring. I’m put inside a plastic globe that totally clear, Which is fun because I can roam around the house. When someone lets the cat in, I’m taken over by fear. I become his play toy, feeling like a scared little mouse.
