Little Man Turns Three
Today’s my birthday. I just turned three. I wished and wished with all my might for something small and cute for me - a polka-dot umbrella, red and white. Mommy has one bigger, but this one fits right in my hand. I couldn’t wait for rain to come, so I prayed the sun would go away! Then came something great! It poured down rain. Mommy let me go out in Grandpa’s field, but all alone! No one had to watch me; Mom said so. She said I could be all on my own. To the red bench in the field I ran. Under my umbrella I now stand. Mommy says I’m a little man. No one even has to take my hand. I got up on this bench all by myself! Even though I’m getting wet, I still love my umbrella. The sky is dark, but I will not go home yet. Something really wonderful I see, so a little longer here I’ll stay. There’s another birthday gift for me - a rainbow in the sky! What a day!
