Her Lingering Grace
No finer beauty as hers had charm’d a dream, Nor a touch thus heavenly more, And so bound was he to languish upon time The loveliness of Lenore. O’ the depths of sorrow crept unto his heart, As came her miasmal embrace, For the night brought the ghost of her beauty And despair from this lingering grace! As an angel to touch was her alabaster skin, Her golden tresses neared to the floor, And of thus he languish’d upon each night Of the lately lament’d Lenore. O’ she slept beyond the dawn of tomorrow, Ne’er a darker a place, And from there came the ghost of her beauty, As he suffer’d her lingering grace! No bluer eyes as hers had charm’d a dream, Nor greater a love evermore, So thereafter he languish’d upon each night O’er the loss of his Lenore. O’ she lurk’d in the breadth of his darkness, ‘Twas told by the lines on his face, For the night brought the ghost of her beauty, And thus, he endures her lingering grace!
