Sanctified Nun
How careful was I when I plod my path, The incident that brought me unto his eyes For wrong hand has she falling for Among the many that eyes have seen Not one whose flames my heart like his And long upon these terms, I held my pace Till thus he began to beset me For feasts of love I have been called upon And be not of my holy vows afraid That to ye I sworn, to none was ever said For I say, this man is untrue And saw how deceits were gilded in his smiles Knew vows were ever brokers of defiling Oh curse is the heart of the adulterous How mighty then you are Oh hear me tell The broken bosoms that to me belong Have emptied all their fountain in my well Now all these hearts that mine depend Feeling it breaks, with bleeding I groan in pain O that inflected moisture of his eye O that false fire which in his eye shine O that false sad breathe his spongy lungs holds Would yet again betray the sanctified nun.
