My Heart
My heart turned into a lump When it felt that it would have to live with its own burden My heart chose to be, then, enclosed in its own chest To never heed the knockings on its doors To never respond to calls from its callers! My heart though, lamented at its own fate Caring to keep its gaze focused on the skies Knowing that these hold the way to its liberation Indeed, the mystery of the blue veils Have the power to transform lumps into pearls! But then, life, mighty and fiery Stomped over with its hammer, hot and flaming, Broke my chest into pieces And forced itself on my stony lump So that, submerged and overwhelmed, it started beating! Pray, life, felt my heart, is sweet, even if unpredictable Life, whispered my heart, is to be lived Even if laden with challenges Life, sang my heart, is to be used, at its best To show to ourselves that we can be made of goodness! Life then placed my heart back into its place It may be broken, but it has been mended It beats still and seeks only to reveal itself to the world So that, through its rebirth The many lumps hidden in their chests, shed off their grit!
