A Lake In the Himalaya
A pristine lake in the high Himalaya spreads its arms of stillness wide on the flanks of the serene glacier that creeps silently with a load of ice down the bare rocky carved out valley melts on the sliding floor in gushing surge and feeds the Ganga chilled ancient water. The water the lake drinks to the full distilled through the untainted rocks is blue as the noon sky without spot transparent as the truth universal and pure as the morning dew for it touches and washes no sin people carry to the mountain. The lake touches the feet of the mighty peak, the Shivling, the symbol of God, that pierces the sky with the snow trident. The lake spreads a blue canvas of deep silence and in serenity it paints a picture of divinity. On my trek up the mountain track I stood awhile by the lake. The slanting sun warmed up the mountain air and mirrored the Shivling on the water. The lake held us together in a picture with God reflected by my side. A bird flew low over the lake in the thin air of the high the wing flutter didn’t break the silence but rippled the water in gentle flair. My face merged with the Shivling I saw me dissolve in total surrender. August 14, 2017.
