Financial Purgatory
Some day maybe, her wistful entreatment another life in some alternate time perhaps with the reaping of my dreams to gathers these echoes of portent and make of myself more than strife not to feel burdened by any means to discover in myself, who I really am She lay back beneath a glittered sky night from gentle lips breathed a ponderous sigh all bound to the dice of chance these stories of ourselves we settle for in rue exchange for our hearts look at us, just look at us all destined to this fight this struggle, this preponderance to daily get by and none of us can sing, none of us dance all too busy acting out our preordained parts Her tear rolled to the cheek of a shooting star do any of us really know who we really are we play this stoned face poker game and wasted in machinery as I accept this living drudgery Eyes beseeching she turned to me I know I am more, you are more we are all ripped apart so undiscovered, so lost so out, of love I lay there on the midnight grass paused expanse of silent stars listening to her quietly shed an anguish far deeper than I thought before Some word of comfort came no offer some secret of lovers to share relief but there on the soft bed of earth beneath the skies dazzled dusted so stars as a cooling breeze through branches lifted my heart broke for her as it broke for me only my tears to utter any semblance of an answer Some day maybe, we will wake from this nightmare no, she said, we won’t not if we can’t do it, all of us, together
