Wandering Ducks
Quack Quack Quack Someone is talking behind my back I couldn't tell from where But they were drawing near I completed my evening work and drove anxiously down the road To empty my heavy load I kept searching for a peaceful spot Where I could relax and hide away from the noisy town As I approached the stop sign I pounced upon three terrified ducks marching across the street in a line They looked like men going to a meeting to settle a dispute in the evening The heart beat of the city echoed from afar People chatting shouting and laughing cars and trucks rolling down the street And the fire siren blazing throughout the city I thought the globe was on fire But it was just the intense temperature The screechy crickets sound sparked anxiety they were jumping from tree to tree I stopped my truck abruptly and let tired ducks through They waggle slowly across the empty street looking as if they had just suffered a terrible defeat They were searching for the pond but it was far from where they stand I continued driving and they kept walking carving out a sequence in the bushes What do I have to do with ducks flipping and flapping and wandering in the streets.
