Little Sammy
Sammy was a black boy from a very poor family, his father and mother were called; Daddy and Mommy- (Sammy was born mentally slow,) and on his tenth birthday he got some new clothes. Oh, he was so proud, so, he went out walking in the park, smiling ear to ear; until some boys started following him, they were bullies from his school- he was afraid of them. They called him horrible names and knocked him down, stealing his new running shoes; jacket, baseball cap and backpack and ran around him, in circles, around and around around they ran. But he did not cry, he watched them leaping and jumping like wild animals; then something strange, a hole opened up, and swallowed them and they were screaming for help. Sammy went over and looked, yep, there they were, "help us Sammy, HELP US!" so, Sammy thought for a minute then said, "okay but first give me back my new things, please." they quickly threw them up, Sammy put them on and ran to get some help for the boys; when he got home- he was not alone, the policeman said, "you have a very brave boy!" _____________________ June 2, 2017 Narrative/ Little Sammy Copyright Protected, ID 906557 Black Sambo Debbie Guzzi Second Place Inspired by the book Little Black Sambo, 1899 by Helen Bannerman
