The sweetest notes from a jabbering brook brought me back to the spongy ground beneath my feet as a ring of gentle mist all around me lifted swift in the evening breeze and my mind floated through the trees. But the sky had almost vanished behind the heavy canopy and I no longer truly wished to tread so deep and dark lonely into the woods with twisted roots and fallen limbs strewn underfoot. With smooth measured breaths my feelings I sought to calm but rain and wind soon came boring their way whittling through the meanders of my mind and I now dooming embers fought with naught left but meaningless thoughts.
