My 'Disability'
I'm not broken, dont look down on me, dont push me around. dont laugh when I ask a question in class. dont smirk when Im confused. dont make faces at me when you think im not looking I have as Aspergers. Did any one ever relize that 'Disability' is limiting in itself? the prefex, Dis- it means not or no the core is able meaning capable then put together it is saying Not Able Not capable How do you think we feel, when all we ever hear is your not able, or you cant do it? Then we add in Highschool to the mix. The devil's playground. A brewing pot of confusion loads of people figureing out who they are. Anger overflowing from arguments at home, Sleep-deprived from fear of failing expectaions. Now just to stir thigs up a bit, Lets not give them coping skills, and make it a social taboo to get help. Perfect! Im not a monster becuase I dont cry at the movies. Im not a killer because blood doesnt faze me. Im not mute becuase I dont want to talk to you. Im not weak becuase I choose not to fight. Im not deaf because I dont care about gossip. Im not stupid becuase I dont waste my time on celeberties. Im not a freak becuase I dont fit into your social groups. Im just a 16 year old girl, that can feel lost in a world of unspoken expectations. Stumbling deaf in a spoken maze. dont take a walk in my shoes, because I dont want to be barefoot. But some understanding would be nice. Sometimes I need a hug, or a comforting glance, or maybe a few gentle words by chance.
