Big City Wilderness
Big city wilderness, what can compare? Folks by the millions, in lone solitaire, Looking, not seeing the traffic around, Heading to work and then home they are bound. No time for chatter or saying “Good Day”, In a big hurry, they go their own way, Whether by subway or taxi or bus, "Nothing is perfect", they rant and they cuss. Playing the markets and selling their stock, Buying a house, now they own the whole block, Everything’s business, but nothing is sure, Yet they keep working, not feeling secure. No time for laughter or time for a friend, Only this madness, now when will it end? Thinking they’re happy, but living a lie, Why just depend on demand and supply? Big city wilderness, choking on fumes, Working so hard for the things they consume, When all is done, there is nothing to keep, Drowning in debt, and a debt that’s so deep. Stock market crashing and real estate gone, Dark is the night; will they ever see dawn? Lonely is life when you’re stuck in a crowd, Sorrow is quiet, but traffic is loud. Darkness is coming and days are all used, Feeling mistreated, betrayed and abused, Big city wilderness, what do you care? Everyone trapped in a strange love affair
