-eyes-
Daily Poetry #38, March 7, 2017 Word: Eyes When I open my eyes, I hope to see blue skies. I want to see the truth, But all I see are lies. Where I had proof, Nonsense stands up. It's always changing, Where I'm standing. I stand on soft ground, That collapses from crying. My fault, that's what I've found, “Help me.” I whisper. Looking up with weary eyes, As the passing breeze sighs. Closing them again, I avoid, The gift of reality that dies. Now I see what I've destroyed. You look so empty, sweetie. Covering my ears To avoid my fears, But life still creeps in, As my lonely heart cheers. Like the light wind, I sigh along with it. “I'm sorry,” I overuse, It's that word I abuse. All alone, seemingly, Life discontinues. At least, for this me, Because I closed my eyes. Without your heat, I'll wait and take my seat. Will you wait a hundred years? Please don't sigh in defeat, I'll conquer my fears, Just for you, my dear. With a sigh, I wake once more, And I can feel your heat like before. This girl who's slept for so long, You're the one she woke for. She depends on you to help her along, “Hello there!”
