The Ultimate Ego Trip
It said by the sage that without intelligent observers the universe would crystallise into hard matter and cold energy ruled by soulless mathematics. It takes humble apes to breath life into our cosmos. Would there be heat if we didn't feel warmth from our sun? Would there be light If we didn't bathe in a camp fire's illumination? Would there be colour if we weren't inspired by its hues and shades to create great works of art on caves or on canvas? Would time exist without life between birth and death nudging the gears of the cosmic timepiece? Are we the conclusion of billions of years of random interactions leading to our existence? The ultimate coincidence? Or did we come first and force our universe to create history all the way back to creation as foundations of reality so we humble observers can observe? As we look back in time at the points of fossil light hurtling away from us, how many of these have played a role in our distant past? And which of these so long ago sparked chains of cause and effect that prompted me to write this verse and prompted you to read it? The ultimate ego trip. From our window on the universe. Our night sky. Written 14th April 2017 Entry to "stargazing" contest
