Attempted Communication
He's sitting in the sand In his right hand A little stone, he lifts it high Left hand fingers fly. He lets his tongue taste the weather on his skin Intense sensation of sunlight felt so warm within He sings a song in words meaningless, unheard Sun plays in his hair It likes it there Children play around him, wonder, frown Sometimes a question there Lands nowhere He lets his tongue taste the words and sound Rolling behind his teeth, savouring all around They play alongside Most together, he outside Attempted communication Inadequate investigation His eyes strafe past Too fast Observes from corners of his eye What do they do, and why? He lives inside but knows there is outside Incomprehensible, no matter how hard he tries *** April 13, 2017 Copyright © Darren White
