Was That Worth What We Had To Bring
Was that to know what was real life and death? Was that to know our nature? In the deep thick blood and mud driven snow when the world could not get bleaker Dead bodies bereft, left to the winds, the larks tunes beat to the carrion birds feasting Was that worth what we had to bring as the battle cries now weaken? Was that worth all the unmarked graves, all the boys and men that will never leave here? Was that worth all the death and noise, all the feared tears and screaming? Was that worth what we lost out there that will never be retrievable? The cost of war is paid for in so many different ways and war's small print is always misleading.
