Ol' Puckerlips
Throughout my life I was cursed in threes I suffered from a notorious disease All I wanted was to be left alone Instead it got cloned I am multiplied now with thousands of these... Nevermind the Rinderpest My condition was foot- in-mouth disease Kids at achool called me Puckerlips Just because of my Freudian slips Some peed their pants in epileptic laughter "Have you heard what he said" As I bit back the tears My lips were indeed a complete disaster When I was serious they thought I was funny The teacher tried to correct my interesting grammar She looked at me and paused and said " Honey".. I said my name is Jannie And the howling started all over again I just wanted to be alone Now the whole school would follow me home "C'mon Puckerlips, say something, say something" Just staring ahead I kept walking on But Ma would take the stickers off my back And kiss me on my warm puckerlips Youre not a mistake and you are MY Freudian Slip And there I lay dreaming about becoming a poet At least a Pullitzer Prize and everyone will know it As I lay there with tears on her lap Softly she'd stroke the hair on my back
